yo8vagyat is an offbeat food-focused venture. It was launched in early 2023 by Vera Vida, initially as a home restaurant. A few months later, she had already left the cell behind.

There were dinners at Ferihegy, Borsod, Vienna, and we organized an ecumenical industry-wide gathering against burnout at the manor in Pusztazámor. We regularly hold workshops and all kinds of food events. We have a base — STUDIYO — in District 8.

Our kitchen has a well-defined world. Our food lives somewhere in the neohungaro-semislavic territory. We experiment a lot — fermenting, foraging, recharging. We’re deeply interested in Hungarian culture, our oral heritages, the whys behind them. 99% of our ingredients are locally sourced. And we’re also shaped by our multiple origins, from Vietnamese to Russian to Ghanaian. It’s important to us that food and eating go beyond just vegetative or aesthetic content.

Food is a cause, a reflection, a choice, and a collective act. That’s why we like to infuse our cooking with meaning, depth, and humor. And yes, one more thing: we don’t like to take ourselves too seriously. But we do like people. And not just the trendy young ones!
